Technological innovation has provided necessary technical supports for Shenhua Group’s fast, sound and sustainable development, and also it has made a large number of important scientific and technological achievements, some of which have even made breakthroughs in the related fields.

—— China Grand Awards for Industry. The China Grand Awards for Industry is the highest award firstly set up by China’s industrial sector. Shenhua Group, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, Daqing Oilfield Co., Ltd., etc, has won the first China Grand Awards for Industry respectively.

— Scientific and Technological Progress Award. In recent years, Shenhua has won a total of 7 national scientific and technological progress awards, covering 1 first prize of national scientific and technological progress and 6 second prizes of national scientific and technological progress. In the past three years, Shenhua Group has won a total of nearly 40 provincial and ministerial level technological awards.

—— Setting a corporate new record. Chinese corporate new records, as a "Guinness Book" in China, represent the developing level and direction of the advanced productivity in China. Shenhua Group created 7, 24, 62 and 40 new records in the year of 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 respectively. Shenhua ranks first among all the coal mining enterprises in China with a total of 164 records.

—— Undertaking National Technological Projects. In the past three years, Shenhua has led or participated in nearly 10 national “863” and “973” key scientific and technological projects. Shenhua has undertaken one project for State Administration of Work Safety and one project for National Energy Bureau, becoming one of the Chinese coal enterprises who undertakes national projects the most. In 2008, it had a total of 5 projects respectively approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission under the State Council, and received RMB34.78 million of scientific research funds allocated by the state.
