The World’s First and Largest Coal-to-Olefin Project Was Completed in Baotou
On May 31, the "Completion of Intermediate Construction of the Petrochemical Plant of Shenhua Baotou Coal-to-Olefin Project and Project Completion Ceremony" was held in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, declaring the completion of the world’s first and largest coal-to-olefin project. Zhao Shuanglian, Vice Chairman of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Zhang Yuzhuo, President amp; CEO of Shenhua Group, Wang Xiaolin, Vice President of Shenhua Group, Hu Ercha, Mayor of Baotou City and Lian Su, Vice Mayor of Baotou City attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Wu Xiuzhang, Vice Chief Engineer of Shenhua Group and Chairman of China Shenhua Coal to Liquid and Chemical Co., Ltd. At the ceremony, Mr.Wang Xiaolin and Mr. Hu Ercha addressed the opening ceremony successively. And then Mr.Lu Zhengping, President of China Shenhua Coal to Liquid and Chemical Co., Ltd. (SCOC), Zhu Ping, Director of Shenhua Baotou Coal-to-olefin Project and President of BCCI all made their respective speeches.
The President amp; CEO Zhang Yuzhuo pointed out in the address that Shenhua Baotou Coal-to-olefin Project was the demonstration project of the modern coal chemical industry in China and one of the ten key projects of Shenhua Group. As a milestone in development of new coal chemical industry in China, the completion of the Shenhua Baotou Coal-to-olefin Project fulfilled China’s oil substitution strategy and facilitated the realization of the objectives of “Pursue scientific development, re-shape Shenhua and double the economy aggregate within five years”. He expressed that Shenhua would work together with Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Baotou to well construct and manage the Shenhua Baotou Coal-to-Olefins Project and to nurture and develop the new coal-to-oil chemical industry on the promising land of Baotou. He hoped that the staff of SCOC would learn from the experience of the construction of Baotou Project and work out, with the pioneering and innovative spirit, a new project management model suitable for the construction of Shenhua projects; race against time to well finish the work at the closing stage and make good production preparations; ensure the production safety and product quality in full measure; stringently control the project’s investment and production cost by careful calculation and strict budgeting; and strive to build the project to be model and excellent project in Shenhua Group or even in China to yield benefits to the society sooner rather than later. Last, Mr. Zhao Shuanglian announced that: the world’ first and largest Coal-to-olefin Project has been completed.
The ceremony was attended by over 1,000 representatives of relevant departments of Shenhua Group, SCOC and its subsidiary in Beijing, BCCI, Ordos Coal-to-oil Branch, Baoshen Railway Co., Ltd., Shenhua International Limited, 17 general constructors, 42 construction companies, 14 main manufactures, 10 supervision institutions, Yingde Gases (co-production partner), and the relevant departments of Baotou.
