Shenhua Group owns 53 operating coal mines, 58 operating shalfs and pits, with total output of 372 million tonnes per year, and 36 coal washing plants with capacity of 287 million tonnes per year. The coal output reached 357 million tonnes in 2010, up by 8.89% year-on-year. The fatality rate per million tonnes of raw coal production was 0.025, far lower than the industry average. The coal sales volume reached 446 million tones in the year, up by 24% year-on-year. The processed raw coal reached 305 million tonnes. Shenhua Group established China’s first 100-million-tonne capacity coal production base in Shendong mining area in 2005 and created the first 10-million-tonne fully-mechanized longwall mining face in China, the first 400m-plus lengthened mining face in China and the world’s first 7m high mining face. The overall capacity of Shendong is 200 million tonnes annually. Harwusu mine and Heidaigou mine, the largest opencut mines in China, were established in Shenhua’s Zhungeer mining area, with combined capacity of 60 million tonnes every year. Zhungeer mining area is also the only coal company in China that utilizes dragline mining technique.
