The main task of Shenhua ports is to satisfy Shenhua needs of shipping its own produced coal. Their task also covers some bulk cargo businesses and ore transportation business, such as coal loading and unloading, coal storage, coal sieving and processing, bulk cargo loading and unloading and ore truck loading. Currently, Shenhua has two self-operated ports—Huanghua Port and Shenhua Tianjin Coal Port. Huanghua Port currently has eight specialized coal berths, whose annual throughput capacity is 100 million tons. Their normal storage capacity and designed storage capacity are 2.2 million tons and 4.2 million tons respectively. Shenhua Tianjin Coal Port currently has three specialized coal berths, whose annual throughput capacity is 45 million tons. The normal storage capacity of them is 800,000 tons and the designed storage capacity of them is 1.44 million tons. In 2010, Shenhua ports completed a throughput of 116 million tons in total. Shenhua ports had completed a throughput of 640 million tons in total from Huanghua Port opened to the end of 2010. Shenhua ports keep exploring new coal transportation and storage techniques and are trying to solve the long-term coal powder pollution problem of the port by the silo group coal storage technology.
