The main task of Shenhua railways is to transport out the coal produced by Shenhua Group. The task also covers local transportations. Currently, Shenhua Group has four self-operated railways of Baotou-Shenmu Railway, Shenmu-Shuozhou Railway, Shuozhou-Huanghua Railway (including Huanghua-Wanjiamatou Railway) and Datong-Junggar Railway (including Nanping Branch Railway), which are 172 kilometers, 266 kilometers, 667 kilometers and 280 kilometers respectively with a total length as 1,385 kilometers. By the end of 2010, Shenhua Group was in possession of 422 self-run trains and dispatched 14 pairs of 10,000-ton trains per day using the Locomotive Wireless Reconnection Synchronous Control System independently developed by the group. In 2010, the railways handled a total freight turnover of about 150 billion ton·kilometers and a total freight volume of 300 million tons.
